The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (MIGS), as a member of the Cyprus Women’s Lobby, is pleased to announce the publication of a collective Advocacy Paper on Advancing Gender Equality in Cyprus, developed in close consultation with women’s civil society organisations across the island. The paper is co-signed by 20 civil society organisations and is available in Greek, Turkish, and English, reflecting a multicommunal and intersectional approach to gender equality.Developed in the context of Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January–June 2026) and the upcoming Parliamentary Elections in 2026, the Advocacy Paper sets out evidence-based and actionable policy recommendations across seven key thematic pillars, including political participation and representation, gender-based and domestic violence, employment and economic equality, health and care, data and research, institutional mechanisms, and the media. Grounded in consultations with the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) and the collective expertise of women’s rights organisations, the paper aims to contribute meaningfully to policy dialogue and decision-making at both national and European levels. The Advocacy Paper will be disseminated to national authorities, political parties, EU institutions, and relevant stakeholders, and will serve as a core tool for feminist advocacy in the period ahead. MIGS remains committed to advancing gender equality through research, policy analysis, and collaboration with civil society at national and European levels.
