Mothers and daughters – Stories and narratives about sexuality and relationships
In the context of the current multiple crises, decisions and discussions taking place about gender, sexuality and relationships often exclude women's voices. Women's narratives and stories on these issues – that largely still remain taboo – are absent from public dialogue and debate. At the same time, political decisions often do not reflect women’s specific realities and needs. In this process, it is also important that we focus on the voices of those silenced, and particularly marginalized groups of women.
Within this framework, the mother-daughter relationship can potentially act as a conduit for personal empowerment, personal agency and self-efficacy in making decisions about gender roles, sexuality and relationships.
We hereby invite you to participate in this innovative project, which aims to engage mothers and daughters, aged over 18, in a facilitated dialogue about their experiences of gender, sexuality and relationships. Dialogue and storytelling between mothers and daughters will help to reveal and understand important aspects of this intergenerational interaction and the way it informs the journey of gendered experiences, socialization as well as the construction of perceptions and attitudes about sexuality in our society. The project will take place simultaneously in Cyprus and Lebanon, aiming to illuminate the intercultural dimensions of these issues in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Discussions between mothers and daughters will take place online. With the informed consent of the participants, the discussions will be recorded and then reiterated in a storybook. The videos and storybook will also be used to instigate further dialogue and awareness-raising among young people and the general public about women's experiences, gender norms and sexual rights.

Μητέρες και κόρες – Αφηγήσεις για τη σεξουαλικότητα και τις σχέσεις
Εν μέσω πολλαπλών κρίσεων, αποφάσεις και συζητήσεις για θέματα που αφορούν το φύλο, τη σεξουαλικότητα και τις σχέσεις αφήνουν τις φωνές των γυναικών έξω. Οι αφηγήσεις, οι ιστορίες και γενικά ο λόγος των γυναικών γι’ αυτά τα θέματα -που ακόμη παραμένουν ταμπού- απουσιάζουν από τον δημόσιο διάλογο. Πολλές φορές διαμορφώνονται πολιτικές αποφάσεις που δεν αντικατοπτρίζουν τις πραγματικότητες και τις ανάγκες τους. Ακόμα πιο σημαντικό είναι να εστιάσουμε ιδιαίτερα στις φωνές των περιθωριοποιημένων ομάδων γυναικών. Η σχέση μητέρας-κόρης αποτελεί ένα όχημα προσωπικής ενδυνάμωσης και αυτενέργειας ως προς τη λήψη αποφάσεων που αφορούν το φύλο, τη σεξουαλικότητα και τις σχέσεις.
Σας προσκαλούμε να συμμετέχετε σε αυτό το καινοτόμο πρόγραμμα, που στοχεύει να εμπλέξει για πρώτη φορά «ζευγάρια» από μητέρες και κόρες, άνω των 18 ετών, σε έναν διάλογο που αφορά το φύλο, τη σεξουαλικότητα και τις σχέσεις. Ο διάλογος και οι αφηγήσεις μεταξύ μητέρας-κόρης μας βοηθούν να κατανοήσουμε σημαντικές πτυχές της αλληλεπίδρασης μεταξύ γενεών και τη συμβολή της στο ταξίδι των έμφυλων βιωμάτων, της κοινωνικοποίησης και της διαμόρφωσης αντιλήψεων και στάσεων που αφορούν τη σεξουαλικότητα.
Το πρόγραμμα θα πραγματοποιηθεί ταυτόχρονα στην Κύπρο και στον Λίβανο με σκοπό να αναδειχθεί επίσης και η διαπολιτισμική διάσταση του θέματος στην περιοχή της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου. Οι συζητήσεις μεταξύ μητέρων και κορών θα πραγματοποιηθούν διαδικτυακά. Με τη συγκατάθεση των συμμετεχουσών, θα μαγνητοσκοπηθούν και θα καταγραφούν σε ένα βιβλίο ιστοριών. Θα παρουσιαστούν επίσης στο ευρύ κοινό, δημιουργώντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο περαιτέρω διάλογο και ευαισθητοποίηση σχετικά με τις εμπειρίες των γυναικών, τους έμφυλους ρόλους και τα σεξουαλικά τους δικαιώματα, μέσα από μια διαγενεακή προσέγγιση. Οι συζητήσεις θα πραγματοποιηθούν εντός του μήνα Φεβρουαρίου 2021, σε μέρα και ώρα που θα αποφασιστεί σε συνεννόηση με τις συμμετέχουσες.
