The Mediterranean Institute for Gender Studies, in collaboration with the European Network of Migrant Women is seeking ‘Change Makers’ – two migrant women living in Cyprus - to participate in the AGENCY: Vote With Her project, designed to build the capacity of women of migrant background(s) across Europe, to be active agents in the preparation for the European Parliament elections 2024. The training programme will provide participants with the knowledge and tools to be actively engaged the EU elections, through a photographic campaign, multiplier events, and other networking opportunities.
AGENCY PROJECT MISSION
Through the AGENCY: Vote with Her project, the European Network of Migrant Women, along with national organizations in 15 European Union countries will:
↦build the capacity of 64 selected minority ethnic/migrant women (change-makers) through a structured 6-month training that will include formal techniques of public engagement, webinars with inspirational speakers, educational sessions increasing understanding of the European Union institutions and processes, as well as a 3-days in-person bootcamp. In addition, each change-maker will be guided through the creation of her own PHOTOVOICE campaign to spread her chosen political messages.
↦organize an engagement and multiplier activities period during which the change-makers will be able to engage in different events to empower others, within and beyond their migrant communities, to engage with EU institutions. This multiplier period will include the dissemination of the PHOTOVOICE campaigns.
CRITERIA FOR RECRUITING CHANGE-MAKERS
↦Demonstrated interest in political participation;
↦Good organisational and time-management skills
↦Ability to use digital tools;
↦Ability to communicate in English (both in oral and written form) is highly desirable as the training main language will be English. Interpretation needs will be discussed on a case-to- case basis.
↦Quality of the application
↦Previous volunteer experience or engagement in local communities is a plus;
↦Ability and desire to work with a diverse group of women
↦Availability for the duration of the AGENCY training programme (6 online sessions in the evening between May 2023 and October 2023, 3 days of in-person bootcamp during one weekend in June or July 2023, participation in at least 2 local multiplier events between November 2023 and June 2024, and optional participation to an in-person capacity building weekend in Brussels in May or June 2024)
COMMITMENTS AND PREROGATIVES
Change-makers commit to:
↦Sign participation agreement
↦Attend the 6 online sessions of the AGENCY training programme from May 2023 to October 2023
↦Attend the 3-days in-person bootcamp in June or July 2023
↦Design and disseminate a PHOTOVOICE campaign, guided and supported by the PHOTOVOICE experts and a volunteer country facilitator from June/July 2023 to May 2024;
↦Participate in at least 2 multiplier events from November 2023 to May 2024 reaching 100 persons in physical settings each, to promote a/various chosen political messages and call local communities to participate in the 2024 European Parliament elections.

WHAT WE OFFER
↦A high-quality training programme with relevant experts and inspirational speakers;
↦Cover the totality of the fees related to the participation to the in-person 3 days bootcamp;
↦Provide volunteer country facilitators to support the design and dissemination of the PHOTOVOICE campaign by each change-maker;
↦Deliver a participation certificate;
↦Deliver a certificate of achievement for those successfully completing the campaigns
↦Deliver recommendation letters and 1-1 professional guidance on a case-to-case basis
↦For a limited number of change-makers selected according to their commitment throughout the AGENCY training programme along with the quality of their PHOTOVOICE campaign and the implementation of its dissemination plan, the European Network of Migrant Women will cover the costs of a 2-days in person capacity building meeting in Brussels that will include collective activities, meetings with experts and decision makers and visit of the European institutions.
↦Create and maintain www.votewithher.eu website where all the campaigns will be exhibited and help most impactful campaigns be exhibited in selected festivals/galleries/exhibitions in Europe.
↦Provide a collaborative and inspiring environment where for change-makers to network, grow and create together and individually, as a part of the AGENCY process!
